The Grand Junction Police Department reported Friday that they had received a 911 call regarding a man with a gun inside the store.

According to a post from the Grand Junction Media Council Facebook Page, GJPD was investigating the incident after someone called dispatch saying there was a man with a gun inside Wal-Mart, and then got into a white van and was leaving.

The GJPD Public Information Officer Kate Porras said,

Responding officers spotted a white van leaving and did a felony stop. The officers determined the driver was not involved, and that the call to 911 was a prank.

After investigating the source of the call officers arrested and released on a summons Marcus Gallegos, who is currently homeless, and charged him with false reporting to authorities, which is a class 2 misdemeanor.
