A Grand Junction big box store is offering a brand new service. A special 'store pickup' option.

We have all seen the signs. Now here's a little bit about it. Is this an option you would use? Or is it just a ridiculous idea?

For one thing, it would cut down on impulse buying. That would be awesome for me. I'm terribly guilty of that. But, wouldn't that hurt those stores? A lot of money is made off of impulse purchases we make.

This new 'pickup' option does have its limitations. There some items that are not available through this service.

  • Perishable products (produce, fruit and some food items).
  • Items that contain hazardous materials (antifreeze, insect/mouse traps, and repellents, etc).
  • Products that weigh in excess of 350 pounds.

Seems simple to use. According to their instructions, you simply choose a store location. Then you shop and place your order. The store will confirm by email. Then, if it's a 'Pickup Today' response, the items will be available within four hours.

However, some items will be marked simply 'Pickup.' This item will take 6-9 business days.
