Denver, Colo. will be one of Walmart's guinea pigs in testing out a new grocery delivery program. The retailer is teaming up with Uber and Lyft in an effort to compete with Amazon's new same-day delivery options.

Denver and Phoenix are the only two cities Walmart is testing this service in at the moment. This new grocery delivery program will be available at the end of the month in Denver.

This service is very simple. The customer can place their grocery order online and a Walmart employee will package the order and then call either Uber or Lyft to deliver it. The customers will pay Walmart, not the drivers, and the cost is estimated between $7 and $10 for delivery.

Why I think this program will work.

  • People won't have to fight traffic in Denver to grocery shop.
  • Parent's won't have to pack all their kids up to go shopping.
  • If you're sick. The last thing you want to do is get up and buy feel good foods.
  • Life is busy. Sometimes you just need extra time for something else.

Why do you think this will or won't work in Denver? Would it work in Grand Junction?
