By the looks of things, it looks as though it's time to put Trigger out of her misery. Trigger is the name of the Martin acoustic guitar Willie Nelson purchased back in 1969. Since it seems reasonable to assume Willie makes a more-than-marginal living, is there any particular reason why he has refrained from purchasing a new guitar?

Willie purchased Trigger for $750 from Shot Jackson in Nashville back in 1969. His previous guitar, given to him by the Baldwin company, had been damaged beyond repair. He purchased Trigger unseen and has never looked back.

Why the name "Trigger" you ask? Well, according to Willie, "Roy Rogers had a horse named Trigger. I figured this is my horse!"

In addition to the giant hole worn through the guitar and beat up corners, Trigger comes complete with close to 100 autographs including Roger Miller, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Gene Autry, Kris Kristofferson, Leon Russel, and various friends and lawyers.

So, why has Willie hung on to this guitar so long? Put simply, he knew from the get-go he had found something special. More than anything, he really likes the sound of it.
