The Western Slope Patriot Guard Riders will be honoring our Veterans this weekend by placing wreaths on the graves of those who gave all.

Wreaths Across America honors fallen Vets by placing wreaths on the graves of those who have fallen across the country. Their mission, to Remember, Honor and Teach by placing wreaths on graves across the country as well as at sea and overseas.

The wreaths will be placed this weekend in Grand Junction at the Veterans Memorial Cemetary as well as the Orchard Mesa Cemetary.

According to the website, the teaching aspect of this event "...touches the lives of thousands of school, scout, civic and religious groups across the country through fundraising for wreath sponsorships. These groups help us ensure that we reach our goal to place a wreath on each hero’s grave. In return, they receive fundraising dollars that assist in furthering their own goals and projects."

Honoring our veterans in this way ensures we will never forget what their sacrifice did for us. The safety and security of our country and our lives were placed in their hands and they lie at rest from a job well done.

If you would like to help, you can contact the Western Slope Patriot Guard Riders on their web page. Get your friends together and honor a Veteran at Christmas this year.
