Have you often wondered why the American Flag is flown at half staff? There are certain days that a flag is lowered at half staff to honor those who have fallen. Memorial Day the American Flag is lowered to half staff to honor the men and women who died protecting our freedom the flag is lowered until noon. We remember and lower the American Flag on September 11th the day the terrorists attacked the twin towers in New York City and we honor Pearl Harbor Day, December 7th and lower the flag at half staff. These are the mandatory days of when the flag must be lowered.
