Country star Phil Vassar, the songwriting genius behind some of your favorite tunes including Tim McGraw's "My Next 30 Years," Alan Jackson's "Right On The Money," Jo Dee Messina's "Bye Bye" and "I'm Alright," and Collin Raye's "Little Red Rodeo," not to mention a string of hit singles he performed, is celebrating his 50th birthday today.

Phil Vassar was born May 28th, 1964, in Lynchburg, Virginia. He took up playing piano while in college at James Madison University, and eventually found work singing in clubs. In 1999, Vassar was named ASCAP's Country Songwriter of the Year.
