Grand Junction’s $2 Million Road Construction
Four words we hate to see together. Grand Junction Road Construction. Ugh!
Five months long at a cost of more than $2 million.
1st Street is getting a facelift. North Avenue to Ouray Avenue, will be converted from a four-lane road down to three lanes. Included in the plans are adding a median, bike lanes, along with on-street parking and walkways for pedestrians.
The work is set to begin at the end of this month.
I dislike that street as much as anyone else. To be honest, I try to avoid it as much as possible. I'll stay on Grand and come up 5th Street if I have to. But, with all the money issues and budget concerns we have in this area, should Grand Junction spend $2 million on a SIX block stretch of road?
