Get ready for a Grand Junction road makeover.

According to an article in the Grand Junction Sentinel, an overdue upgrade to 1st Street will finally happen in 2016.

Trent Prall, Grand Junction's engineering manager, said that a plan is being formulated to update the stretch of 1st Street from North Avenue to Ouray Street. Part of the plan may be what's called a 'road diet' where 4 four lanes are reduced to three.

Some of the businesses may be hurt temporarily, but the plan is that the construction, in the long run, will actually increase traffic.

We all know that there is an awful lot of road construction in the Grand Junction area. Is this a stretch of road that should take priority? Are there other roads in Grand Junction that  should be dealt with first?
