Something new in Grand Junction this summer will be camps for 5 and 6-year-olds.

Summer camps offered by Grand Junction Parks and Rec are extremely popular. They offer a variety of activities for kids including fishing, swimming, babysitting training, indoor rock climbing, junior lifeguarding, sports and more. These camps are typically for kids ages 7-14, but this year there is something new for the younger set.

A brand new camp is being offered called Little Sunshine Camp offered exclusively to kids ages 5 and 6.

The camp offers a variety of activities to keep kids active during the day, meeting friends, working on social skills, and various programs to spark new interests.

The cost of the camp is $84 per week. Kids can come for one week, several weeks, or the entire summer. For about $17 a day, kids are kept busy from 7:30am-5:30pm. Parents are emailed a schedule of the week's events on the Thursday before each new week.

This is a great option for parents who may be struggling with what to do with their youngsters when they get out of school for the summer.

Parents can register online with the City of Grand Junction. Questions can be directed to Emily at 970-254-3875.
