Spring is almost here, and camping enthusiasts are firing up their RVs and campers. Between the time you pull your camper out of storage and the time you hit the open road, is it legal to park it on a city street in Grand Junction?

According to the Grand Junction Police Department, the answer is both yes and no.

Put simply, yes you can park it on the street, but only for a limited amount of time. The Grand Junction Police Department's Facebook page states recreational vehicles can only remain parked on city streets for 72 hours, per 21.05.040(e) in the city's municipal code.

This will no doubt come as news to some Grand Junction residents. Chances are you have a neighbor who has an RV parked for months at a time on the street in front of their house. Some parts of Grand Junction look like something out of Christmas Vacation with Cousin Eddie setting up camp in front of a neighbor's house.

When you fire up your camper this spring, please keep in mind GJ city code 21.05.040(e), which when all is said and done, probably sounds more intimidating than it really is.
