12 jurors took more than four days to decide on either the guilt or innocence of Lester Jones.

However, even after spending countless hours, they could not come up with a unanimous decision. Even after the judge them back into deliberation. Nine to three was the vote. Nine for guilty. The result is a mistrial. Jones has been suspected of killing Paige Birgfeld in 2007. He faces charges of first-degree murder, second-degree murder, and second-degree kidnapping.

The jurors stated that their emotions were running high, even to the point of some of them breaking down and crying.

District Attorney Dan Rubenstein said he does plan to retry this case as soon as possible.
