Despite its many flaws, 2016 did have one endearing quality - it was 366 days (keep in mind it was a leap year) filled with awesome music and incredible people. Check out the video above for a look back at my "Year In Music 2016."

Okay, 2016, for the most part, was a really soggy piece of junk. No doubt it will go down as one of the most lackluster years in human history. Whereas music is concerned, though, the year was truly amazing.

Playing music is kind of like Star Trek or pizza - even when it's bad, it's still pretty good. Last year presented the opportunity to play incredible shows with some of my favorite people.

If nothing else, it was a very eclectic year. Performances ranged from festivals with the Desert Flyer Band to concerts with the Western Colorado Jazz Orchestra, more than a few church concerts with Javier De Los Santos, several shows with Big Bands like Rock N Swing and the Swing City Express, and even a Mariachi gig or two.

Probably the biggest highlight of 2016 was the opportunity to hang around with two people who are somewhat responsible for getting me into this "business" in the first place, Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart. These two lovely ladies allowed me the opportunity to hang out with them backstage at Redrocks and on their tour bus.

Well, 2016, I'm glad to see you go. I do, however, appreciate the opportunity to play with these amazing groups. Let's do it again in 2017, shall we?
