Take a look back at Grand Junction and Western Colorado winters of the 1940s and 50s through the lens of Robert Grant. From ice skating to aerial shots, see what the region looked like 70 years ago.

Bob Grant worked at the Daily Sentinel for over 40 years, capturing images from across Western Colorado.  This short gallery contains photos ranging from train derailments to kids making snowmen.

Over the Christmas break, I spent a few hours going through a few thousand of my grandpa's old photos and negatives. Speaking as someone who was born and raised in Grand Junction, it's funny how little things have changed.

No doubt you'll agree black and white photography adds a little something to winter photos. The contrast really brings out winter's effects on the region.
