You may have heard about the guy that had to be rescued after falling through the ice but did you hear that the firefighter that rescued him actually put his life on the line?!

According to the KKCO website:

A 60-year-old man was hunting with his dog Tuesday when the animal fell through the ice while trying to retrieve a duck. His owner chased after his pet and freed it, but he in turn broke the ice and slipped into the water.

David Jones a member of our local Media Council tells us that's not the complete story saying,

Little did anyone know this Firefighter Swam almost all the way across the River till the Ice Flow drug him away, Swam Back, Cut the Rope "his lifeline", swam the rest of the way to the man in the Ice. We should Honor his this Firefighter for not giving up.

An awesome example of a local hero going above and beyond! I think someone should nominate him for our Community Hero!
