Ski season is upon us here in Colorado and while there aren't any ski resorts super close to Grand Junction, Snowpak.com has ranked the best in the state to help you choose the best one to go to.

10. Copper Mountain

Nestled between Vail pass and Frisco, Copper Mountain has a cute little village to walk around in and great trails. They even have live music during the summertime with notable alumni like Lynyrd Skynyrd, Blue Oyster Cult and the local favorite Guitar Town.

9. Breckenridge

Just a few miles Southeast of Copper is another local favorite mountain, Breckenridge. Breck also has a picturesque ski town and is especially favored by skiers from the Southeast part of the state.

8. Keystone

Coming in at number eight is Keystone. Contrary to the beer of the same name, Keystone is a fairly ritzy area with, in addition to the ski mountain, plenty of golf and upscale restaurants.

7. Steamboat

Take I-70 to Wolcott, go north and you'll find the almost hidden Steamboat. Its isolation up in the Colorado mountains makes it a local favorite.

6. Winter Park

I've lived in Colorado all of my life but somehow have never been to Winter Park. However, Snowpak.com lists it as having excellent moguls.

5. Beaver Creek

Here's one I have a lot of experience with. Not only does Beaver Creek have excellent skiing, but the little town itself is a must-see.

4. Aspen Highlands

Although it is very expensive, Aspen also has amazing skiing. Plus, if you're lucky, you might recognize some of the scenery from Dumb and Dumber.

3. Arapahoe Basin

A-Basin, as it's known by the locals, is not only usually the first ski resort in Colorado to open, but also usually the last to close.

2. Vail

Vail is not only the biggest ski resort in Colorado, but it's also one of the best as well. Vail also has a ton of parties, including live music with well-known acts.

1. Telluride

Coming in at number one is the often forgotten Telluride. With excellent skiing, music festivals and even a mushroom festival, Telluride sit nicely at the top spot.
