New Year’s Eve at Powderhorn runs from 4 to 8 p.m. and includes live music, torchlight parades, and fireworks you can view from the base area. The resort is open for normal operations that day, so plenty of people ski before heading to the celebration area. The fun is centered around the Sunset Bar & Grill area, and it’s easy to get something to eat & warm up during the event.

New Year’s Eve at Powderhorn includes the New Year’s Eve torchlight parades. Participants ski down the slopes with LED torches, creating a unique visual ahead of the fireworks show. You get to see it more than once with a torchlight race for kids, followed by another for adults and Powderhorn employees. Fireworks start shortly after sunset. The ideal spot to watch them is the base area near Sunset Bar and Grill. It’s the best place (sightline), and the music that plays adds to the show.

Planning Your Visit: Tickets and Participation Details

New Year’s Eve at Powderhorn is free to attend. If you want to spectate from the base area, then you do not need lift tickets to enjoy the music, torchlight parades, or the fireworks. If you ski, you will need a valid lift ticket or season pass. Kids who want to participate in the torchlight parade can begin signing up at 3 p.m. that day. Spots may be limited. Call 970.268.5700 for additional info.
