Sometimes you just need to getaway. You can see three absolutely gorgeous and natural place in less than two hours. Each of these locations is less than two hours from Grand Junction, which is perfect for a day trip. Hello, weekend plans:

Harvey Gap State Park is about an hour and 20 minutes away from Grand Junction near Rifle. This place has sparkling turquoise water surrounded by mountains. There are lots of fun activities at Harvey Gap like swimming, fishing, boating, paddle boarding and more.

Storm King Mountain is an hour and 30 minutes away from Grand Junction near Glenwood Springs. The mountain has 360 views and great hiking. The Storm King Memorial Trail is a hard trail that's 3.5 miles long with an elevation gain of 1,635 feet. This trail has lots of memento for 14 firefighters who lost their lives in a wildfire on Storm Mountain in 1994.

The Palisade is an hour and 20 minutes away from Grand Junction. It's a gorgeous landmark and the rock formation almost looks like a mohawk. The Dynamite Trail to Vista Grade Loop has an amazing view of the Palisade. It's an easy trail that's 2.6 miles long and you'll see Gateway Canyon resort and the remanents of the hanging flume from the mining days.
