One Tank Getaway: Grand Junction to Cedaredge, Colorado
This one tank getaway takes you from Grand Junction to Cedaredge, all on one tank of gas. See a waterfall, a Pioneer Town and a fruit orchard on your one tank getaway.
Start with a Waterfall
Your first stop on your one tank getaway is actually a waterfall inside of the Big Dominquez Canyon. The hike to the waterfall starts at the Dominquez Canyon trailhead, which is just a little over 30 minutes from Grand Junction.
Surrounding yourself with the peaceful sounds and views of the waterfall and Dominquez Cayon sounds like a good start to your getaway.
Churro Waffles By the Creek
You've probably worked up an appetite after hiking to the wonderful waterfall and back and that's great because the next stop -- is churros by the creek. The Cedaredge Creekside Cafe is about 45 to 50 minutes away from the waterfall.
Once you get to the cafe in Cedaredge, you can get a nice pork chop with mashed potatoes. Or maybe get some vanilla churro waffles while you hear the sounds of the creek.
Saloons and Silos in Pioneer Town
The Pioneer Town Museum is walking or driving distance from the Cedaredge Creekside Cafe. Pioneer Town is a museum with 24 buildings to represent the late 1800's through the mid-1900s. There are even real historical artifacts from this time period. Three of the wooden silos are on the National Historic Registry.
From the Lizard Head Saloon to the Chapel of the Cross, there's a lot to see at Pioneer Town. Just make sure to check Pioneer Town's hours before you head down because pioneers need their rest too.
The Last Stop is the Sweetest
Last but not last, it's one sweet last stop. Antelope Hill Orchards is than 15 minutes away from Pioneer Town and it's on your way too. Antelope Hill has sweet cherries, pie cherries, and peaches. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Pick your own fruit at Antelope Hill Orchards and top your getaway off with something sweet.
