Western Colorado music lovers are looking for updates regarding local musician Bad Bob Walker's battle with cancer. There's good news to report. He's reached the halfway mark with his treatments, and he sees blue skies in the forecast.

Everybody knows Bobby Walker. He's lived in the valley forever, but his musical appeal extends well beyond Western Colorado. He's spent years touring the Blues circuit, traveling all over the United States and Canada. Millions of miles and several albums later, he still calls Grand Junction home.

Earlier this year Bob was diagnosed with throat cancer. He's now seven weeks into his treatment, which means he's reached the halfway mark.

Bad Bob sent the following message to his friends and fans:

I don't care to cry the blues too much, but there is good news laced in as well. So, reached halfway on seven week treatments, that means downhill, which I love. Side effects are 'bout to kill me, as anyone knows with family or friends who have been through this. Getting used to living on a feeding tube... a must. Can't talk much, swallow, eat, sleep, etc., 'cause of the throat tumor. Excited to get taste, teeth, and no-chemo brain back in a couple of months. Enjoying visits from family and close friends. Beautiful daughter Bobby Lee coming in this week from California!!!!!!! Nephew Tony Luke is back to Denver tomorrow. Again, love and thanks to y'all for thinking positive thoughts of me." - Bobby Walker

While Bob is unable to sing at this point, you'll still catch him performing around Western Colorado from time to time. He's a monster guitarist and world class drummer in anyone's book.

Like he says, it's all downhill from here. Here's hoping the worst is behind him. We're thinking about you, Bobby.
