The nightlife here in Grand Junction has it going on. There are so many festivals, wineries, breweries and fantastic restaurants. Throughout the state of Colorado, there is a rise in DUI's. Totally not necessary.

It's wonderful that there are so many options now to prevent you from driving drunk. I've heard people say they don't want to spend $15 - $30 for a ride home, yet they can afford to party? Makes no sense to me.

Colorado laws are strict in Colorado. You can face jail time, lose your license, and it can cost you LOTS of money.

If you can afford to go out and have a good time, you can afford to be safe and call for a ride. If you are unaware of what is available here in Grand Junction, let me help you out with a list of options.

Lyft

Lyft is a new service here in Grand Junction. They arrived approximately two weeks before Country Jam. Similar to Uber. I've been using Lyft for years in Denver and love them. All you have to do is download the app and set-up a profile, which you'll want to do before your first drink.

Uber

Same process. Download the application on your phone and be sure you set everything up before your night begins.

Designated Driver Service

This is a cool service that you can call; 970-261-5158. They will pick you and your car up and drive both you and your car home so that you don't have to worry about getting your car the next morning. I suggest you give them a call before you get intoxicated to find out all the details of their services. Cost and/or if there are any subscription guidelines.

Taxi

If you don't like downloading an app as an option, it's always a good idea to be prepared by plugging in your favorite taxi company in your phone.

Plan on having a DD

Before you hit the town pick who will be the designated driver for the night.

Have fun. Be safe. Be smart.
