‘Most Wanted’ Fugitive Was Not In Colorado – Sets New Record

A fugitive believed to have been hiding in Colorado has been arrested in another state.

The U.S. Marshal's webpage states Jacob Scott, 43, had been seen in Colorado, Nevada, Mississippi, and Louisiana. A reward of $25,000 was offered for information leading directly to his arrest.

According to the Canon City Daily Record, Scott was wanted out of Mississippi for sexual battery, touching a child for lustful purposes and exploitation of a child. He's also wanted on charges of fleeing to avoid prosecution.

Scott is accused of impregnating a 14-year-old in Jackson County, Mississippi. He was released on bond and failed to show at a subsequent court hearing. He had been on the run for some time, having faked his own death. In July 2018, authorities found Scott’s dinghy abandoned off the coast of Orange Beach, Alabama, with a suicide note and a gun inside.

According to U.S. Marshals, Jacob Scott was arrested in an RV park in Antlers, Oklahoma, late last Wednesday night, January 29. Someone at the park recognized him and called the sheriff.

Before long, the camper occupied by Scott was surrounded by authorities. The person inside exited the RV but refused to admit his identity. He was later identified by his tattoos.

Here's the really cool part - the agency put Scott on its "Most Wanted" list on Wednesday. He was arrested later that same night, around midnight. When it's all said and done, this is the new record for the fastest apprehension of a fugitive on the U.S. Marshal's "Most Wanted" list in the agency's 37-year history.
