There are a number of places in the US that use cameras to identify traffic offenders and mail them tickets with fines for failing to observe the law.

The problem, Montrose is not one of the places that do that. However, some residents have received traffic cam tickets with fines they need to pay.

According to the Montrose Police Department, besides the fact they don't use traffic cameras, the correspondence requests payment via PayPal or other uncommon payment methods.

Montrose residents are asked to alert their friends, family, and co-workers about this scam.

If they receive a letter or other correspondence requesting payment of a fine that they contact the Montrose Police Department at 970-249-9110.
