Michael Vick who spent 18 months in prison for dog fighting is now a owner of another dog. A lot of the public is irate, and for good reason. This is a man who killed pups with his bare hands, ran an underground dog fighting empire and bread dogs just for fighting. Somehow this man is allowed to be a dog owner again.Vick was released from prison in 2009 after being sentenced for animal cruelty and for running a dog fighting empire. His probation stipulated that he wasn't aloud to own a dog while on his 3 year probation sentence. That sentence has ended, and Vick now owns another dog. Vick has been working with the Humane Society speaking out against dog fighting.

That's like letting a Sex Offender adopt a kid as soon as they get off probation. We would never allow that, so why do we allow convicted dog abusers to own dogs again? Just because they speak out against their crimes doesn't justify putting them in a position to do it again. Sex Offenders have to go through classes and counseling but when they are done we don't give them children. I'm not saying cruelty to animals is on the same level as sexually abusing a child. But its a good analogy and they are comparable.
