The Mesa County Public Library Foundation is looking for your help on Kickstarter to raise funds to develop a new app called WildCO. Here are some of the neat things they want to bring to people in Colorado.

Wild Colorado is an outdoor-recreation mobile app that brings the research power of the library to your smart device, but it is much more than a library research app.

The app will allow you to identify all of the great local wildlife you see in Colorado. You are also invited to share photos that you take while enjoying all that the Colorado wilderness has to offer. You can keep your collection of photos and share them with others, showing when and where you enjoyed the thrill of seeing the animals and plants you find.

WildCO is an app for everyone who loves Colorado and the outdoors. In the classroom or on the trail, WildCO offers a unique regional and personal experience whatever your adventure is, whether you are hiking, biking, fishing and more.

The Library has partnered with Colorado Parks & Wildlife to integrate their mammal, bird, fish and reptile species database right into Wild Colorado. So, you can be sure that the information in Wild Colorado is reliable and accurate. It really is like having four guidebooks in your pocket and at your fingertips.

The WildCO app Kickstarter campaign will be going on until December 15th, and they are looking to raise $15,000 in the next week. If you are interested in helping out, just click here to see all of the details. As always, if they do not reach their goal of $15,000, you will not be billed for your donation.

The app is expected to be available for download in late spring/early summer 2016. As envisioned in project planning, there will be no charge for users to download the WildCO app.  They are hoping it will be a virtual public resource available statewide.
