Mesa County and Colorado State Patrol are increasing their efforts this week in watching out for holiday drinking and driving.

It's all apart of what the Colorado Department of Transportation is calling it's The Heat Is On campaign. It's aim is to keep our roads safe from drivers under the influence. During this holiday season, more than 111 law enforcement agencies statewide will work together to patrol the Colorado roads.

People continue to drink and drive or be under the influence and drive. I don't understand why. We have done plenty of posts on this to try and raise awareness, yet it is still being done at an alarming rate. Stop.

  • Every two minutes a person is injured in a drunk driving accident.
  • Every day 27 people die due to drunk driving.
  • More than 28.3 million of us have admitted to driving under influence.
  • In 2016, there 522 arrests made for impaired drivers during Thanksgiving.
