As you may all be aware, Mackenzie Dodge, our morning Disc Jockey and a close friend of mine, is having surgery this morning. If you didn't hear about this, you can find a link to all the details on Mack's surgery below. Anyone who has been in this situation knows how scary and expensive it can be. Mack is a strong woman and we are all praying for her to get through this.

Mackenzie is the staple that holds this community together and she is always finding new ways to help out the children, elderly, needy and the unfortunate in our community. Mack helped put together the Grant a Wish Program that gives children in Mesa County life skills on Christmas day through various parks and rec activities. She helps organize the Turkey Drive, the Coat Drive and the Toy Drive to help build a strong community. She is relentless in making sure she is doing the best for our community day in and day out.

Many of you can testify on how much Mack helps out not only our community but also our listeners. I think its time for us to give back to Mack. She is going under this morning for an intense surgery and her medical bills are going to be out the roof. Mack does have workplace health insurance, but she will still have to defer a portion of the costs. Anyone who has ever had surgery of this sort or who has had a family in this situation knows how expensive it can be even with health insurance.

I have set up a fund at US Bank that is open for donations effective this morning for anyone who would like to give back to Mack for all that she has done in our community and our lives. The funds raised will help Mack out with her medical expenses that aren't covered by her health insurance. We all know Mack is a proud woman and I nearly had to twist her arm off in order for her to let me do this. If you would like to help out a person like Mack who has been so helpful to all of us, you can do so by going down to any US Bank in the Grand Valley, Delta, Montrose and Glenwood Springs and donate to the Mackenzie Dodge Medical Expense Fund. If you would like to transfer funds the Routing #: 102000021 Account #: 103681771053-1003.

We will also be hosting a spaghetti dinner to celebrate Mack's return at the End Zone Sports Pub and Grill in April. We will have live music, spaghetti, salad and garlic bread. The cost to eat is only $5. The End Zone Sports Pub and Grill has been kind enough to donate all of the food costs. So all the proceeds from this benefit dinner will go to Mack. We have not set a final date but more details are coming soon.
