It's going to be 70 degrees today in Grand Junction. Springtime is here, and it's hot dog time. A Grand Junction shop whipped up something special just for you, just in time for April Fool's Day.

I'm not a hot dog aficionado, but it seems most people are? Does this look like something you'd enjoy for lunch on a spring day? Take a closer look.

It's even better than it looks.

This was spotted on a Facebook post from earlier today. Behold! Just in time for April Fool's Day, a local Grand Junction bakery, Homestyle Bakery, whipped up a bunch of "Hot Dog Donuts."

What is it?

Well, essentially it is a glazed long john, with a pile of frosting disguised as a hot dog.

How much?

I stopped by Homestyle Bakery to investigate. Needless to say, it was imperative to try one out. They're not exactly cheap. After tax, the "donut" came to $2.50.

From a distance...

From a distance, it's possible to see where someone might be fooled. I was fooled, for a moment, upon seeing the original Facebook post.

Are they any good?

Yes, they're excellent. Add to that the novelty, and they're something you really should try.

Will they be available after April Fool's Day?

That I don't know. I reached out to Homestyle Bakery with that very question, and have yet to receive a reply.

UPDATE: I received a reply from the bakery. The "Hot Dog Donuts" are exclusive to April Fool's Day. Sorry.

Kudos for the fun "holiday" treat.

While there was no real prank involved, these made for a fun April Fool's Day. When it's all said and done, they made for a great donut. Better yet, they made for an excellent excuse to leave work, hop in a company car, and go get a donut.
