Grand Junction’s Dos Rios Starbucks Is Now Closed
Sometimes it happens. A new business opens in Grand Junction; you blink, and suddenly it's closed. This is exactly what happened to the Starbucks location at Dos Rios. The store opened in April of 2025 and was listed as closed on September 26, 2026.
I don’t go to Starbucks very often, but the Dos Rios location was my store. It was great to walk the riverfront at Las Colonias and know there was a place to stop and recharge. Not anymore. The coffee shop ran for 17 months. Now, the lights are off, and the doors are closed.

Western Colorado’s Business Times reported Starbucks at Dos Rios closed on September 28. A closure notice was placed on the doors, windows, and even on the drive-thru menu board for those who didn’t notice the empty building and covered windows (photo below). The notice does not give a reason for the closure.
Grand Junction Was One of Several Colorado Communities Affected
At the end of September, Starbucks announced the closure of several Colorado locations, including the Dos Rios store. 9 News reports that Starbucks closed two stores in Colorado Springs, two in Denver, one in Lafayette, and one in Wheat Ridge. Colorado Workforce Ledger says stores also closed on the Spectrum Loop in Colorado Springs, along with another store in Gunnison. That brings the total to nine stores. It’s safe to say it’s been a sad week for coffee lovers.

I’ve heard it said several times in just a few days. “Wait, there was a Starbucks there?” Did people really not know there was a new Starbucks on the riverfront right next to the Dos Rio Splashpad? This seems like a match made in heaven, yet the store is closed, and Starbucks isn’t coming back. So what’s going into the empty Starbucks?
There is no publicly confirmed replacement tenant yet. The Dos Rios website describes the development as a growing mixed-use destination with future retail and hotels planned, and it still identifies 2601 Dos Rios Drive as the Starbucks location when we looked on September 30.
