Grand Junction Man Gives a Deployed Local Marine’s Son Awesome Birthday Gift
The most amazing thing happened on my show yesterday (October 9,) Joey Gonzalez who is a Marine stationed in Afghanistan called me to wish his son Briar a happy first birthday! My heart melted! Listen to the audio, and have your tissues ready.
This is one reason I love my job, heart-touching phone calls from military folk and YOU the listeners. You guys NEVER cease to amaze me!
Joey Gonzalez, a Marine deployed in Afghanistan, called in wishing a sentimental song for his baby boy's first birthday. A long-distance dedication to a growing boy from his daddy telling him that, Aw he'll be alright if he's anything like me, just like Brad Paisley says in his song.
One listener, Tony, from Sadler Trucking in Loma was so touched by the call, he called to give $50 to Blair for his birthday, in honor of Blair's father serving our country.
Joey's mom even called to say thanks for everything KEKB has done and to thank the gentleman who gave the $50.
From helping out Grand Junction residents by donating Coats for our Coat Drive or helping us track down a disabled boys stolen bike, to this.
Our KEKB audience is the best around, and we thank YOU for showing your support in our community!

Joey left all of our Facebook fans a very touching comment.
