Most of the time when someone talks about burning rubber, they mean spinning tires and quick acceleration. For the Grand Junction Police Department, it means someone intentionally set a car on fire. That kind of burning rubber is called arson.

On February 2 just after midnight, Grand Junction Police and Fire Departments responded to a report of a car on fire in a home's driveway on the 2800 block of Hall Avenue.

The vehicle, a gold 2008 Kia Optima valued at over $5,000, was destroyed in the fire. Investigators determined the fire was intentionally set and are attempting to locate the suspects who started the fire.

If you know anything about the fire or the people involved, you are asked to make an anonymous call to Crime Stoppers of Mesa County at 970-241-7867 with the information. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the Crime Stoppers website or by using the P3Tips App.

If the information given leads to an arrest in the case, the person who submitted the information is eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000 while remaining completely anonymous.
