Grand Junction Organization Offers Funds for Local Non-Profits
Do you know of a Grand Junction area non-profit organization in need of funding? The Grand Junction Lions Club is currently taking applications for grants.
The Grand Junction Lion's Club recently posted on Facebook, "Do you know a nonprofit who is in need of funds for a capital project? We are now accepting applications for our grants!"
If you know of non-profit seeking funds, encourage them to submit an application by October 28, 2020, at Brown's Shoe Fit at 425 Main Street in Grand Junction.
What criteria determines which non-profits will be selected to receive funds from the Grand Junction Lion's Club? According to the CBC Fund Request Application:
The general criteria for funding is: (1) to do the most good for the most people; (2) to give only to capital needs, not operations; (3) to not give to fundraising drives or for-profit organizations; and (4) to assure the project will have long-term support without on-going contributions and/or management by the GJ Lions Club.
After applications are submitted, what happens next? According to the GJ Lion's official webpage, in November, the CBC will meet twice to narrow the list of grant applicants, then decide which projects will receive funding. Then, at the November meeting of the Board, the CBC recommendations are reviewed and approved.
Later, on the first Tuesday of December, the club votes on the CBC /Board recommendations. According to the GJ Lion's webpage, all information and decisions are confidential throughout the process.
Looking back on my 50 years in Grand Junction, it's impossible to keep track of the amazing efforts supported by the GJ Lions. Some of my best memories involve Lion's Club fundraising events.
Chances are you know a non-profit in need of funding in 2021. Speak up. This is a golden opportunity to put community dollars back into the community. Help get the word out, and encourage non-profits to submit their applications.
