Give The Gift Of Volunteering This Christmas
Grand Valley residents are some of the most giving people I have had the pleasure to have known.
Volunteering your time is the most wonderful gift you could give and there are a lot of opportunities to do so in the Grand Valley, so let's take a look at a few.
The Latimer house helps those who have been affected by domestic abuse and sexual assault. Donations of clothing and household items are always needed. Sometimes the only things they have time to get before leaving is their child and their wallet. Check the wish list to get a list of items always needed.
Are you a compassionate person who connects with people? Volunteer to sit with a patient, read to them, maybe help get them to a doctor's appointment. Heirlooms for Hospice also needs volunteers to help sort through clothing and help customers. Visit the website and get signed up.
CASA volunteers speak for abused and neglected children to help make sure they have a safe and permanent home. Training and continued support are provided for those interested.
Victim Assistance advocates help victims of crimes deal with loss, confusion, and pain with counseling and support. Training is provided by the Grand Junction Police Department. Its purpose is to ensure no victim is alone or uninformed during a time of crisis.
Help set up and serve meals, as well as deliver them to those in need. This nutritional meal program is sponsored by St. Mary's Hospital.
There are a great number of organizations looking for volunteers. Give the gift of your time this holiday season and make a difference.
