Garth Brooks Covers ‘Fishin’ in the Dark’ at Dive Bar Tour Opener [Watch]
Garth Brooks kicked off his 2019 Dive Bar Tour with an intimate show at Joe's Bar in Chicago on Monday night (July 15), and he peppered his set with some classic country covers that included Nitty Gritty Dirt Band's "Fishin' in the Dark."
CMT reports that Brooks' return to the small stage was an informal affair during which he let the audience pick part of his setlist by request. He ran through a set that included "That Summer,” “Two Pina Coladas,” “Rodeo,” “Ain’t Goin’ Down (’Til the Sun Comes Up), “Beaches of Cheyenne,” “Callin’ Baton Rouge,” “The Thunder Rolls," “Shameless" and more before performing a mini-set of some of the covers he used to play before he had hits of his own.

Brooks' covers set also included Merle Haggard's "Mama Tried," George Strait's "Amarillo By Morning" and Keith Whitley's "Don't Close Your Eyes," as well as songs from George Jones and Randy Travis.

Of course, Brooks' set Monday night also included "Dive Bar," his new duet with Blake Shelton that served as the inspiration for the tour. Brooks' 2019 Dive Bar Tour is slated for six more shows, the locations of which have not yet been announced. Fans can win tickets to those shows by listening to local radio stations in those cities.
Brooks is also continuing his massive Stadium Tour, which is slated to last three years.
