BLM Will Relocate Their Headquarters To Grand Junction
Senator Cory Gardner says The Bureau of Land Management will be moving to Grand Junction.
"Today is a historic day for our nation’s public lands, western states, and the people of Colorado,” so says Senator Gardner in a statement earlier today. “Relocating the Bureau of Land Management to the Western Slope of Colorado will bring the bureau’s decision-makers closer to the people they serve and the public lands they manage.”
It makes sense for the Bureau of Land Management to move out of Washington. 99% of the land the agency manages is west of the Mississippi River. It's big news for the future of Grand Junction and the area economy. Other locations trying to land the BLM included Salt Lake City and Boise. Colorado was thought to have an advantage because Interior Secretary David Bernhardt is from Rifle.
“This is a victory for local communities, advocates for public lands, and proponents for a more responsible and accountable federal government,” says Gardner. The Senator has been pushing for the relocation for the past three years.
