Art students at Western Colorado's Fruita Monument High School won a $1,500.00 award for their department while competing in an art contest hosted by Western Metals Recycling.

The competition pitted art students from Fruita Monument High School against students from Palisade High School. Each school was asked to decorate a container at Western Metals Recycling in Grand Junction.

Students, parents, and faculty were at Western Metals Recycling on Saturday (May 2) where they were asked to vote for their favorite artwork. When it was all said and done, it was a tight race, with Fruita Monument High School winning by just over a dozen votes.
