New Attendance Caps May Affect Popular Colorado Festivals
Riverbend Park in Palisade is one of many places in Western Colorado synonymous with summer. For a long time, the park near the Colorado River has been the perfect venue for several community events in Mesa County.
Riverbend Park hosts the Palisade Peach Festival, the Colorado Mountain Winefest, and several Western Slope events that are so popular that some question if they have outgrown the 25-acre space. On June 4, 2026, the Palisade Board of Trustees voted to cap event capacity in Riverbend Park at 5000 people.

Palisade, Colorado's board of trustees, announced a new park capacity on Thursday (June 4, 2026), via social media. Annual events at Riverbend Park, such as Peach Fest, Bluegrass Fest, Lavender Fest, and the Colorado Wine Festival, will now all observe the new park capacity.
KJCT8.com reports that both Palisade’s Police and Fire Chiefs say the venue’s new capacity follows a review of road capacity, event safety, and emergency services. Palisade’s board decided 5000 people was the highest number that could be allowed in the park at one time, while still maintaining public safety. Last September, the organizers of the Colorado Mountain Wine Fest announced they would be limiting the capacity of their event to 2000 people at Riverbend Park on September 19th.
Smaller Crowds Could Bring Big Benefits
Organizers of the Colorado Mountain Wine Fest in Palisade say that lowering attendance to 2000 guests helps with everything from parking to wait times and even vendor interactions. Guests at events in the park get a more relaxed experience during one of Palisade’s busiest festivals. As local events gain popularity, crowd management becomes essential in support of a quality of experience, safety, and comfort for those in the park.
