I sure am. Yesterday, after a steady and overwhelming dose of bad news, I was ready to leave the planet. However, before the day ended, everything turned around thanks to a heapin' helpin' of that life saving concoction we call "the healing power of music."

The healing properties associated with the simple act of listening to music are indisputable. Cultures around the world have understood this for centuries. Ancient Egyptians and Greeks considered healing and sound to be a sacred science. Physical ailments such as sciatica and gout where treated with the flute and lyre.

After my extraordinarily crappy day, my entire attitude turned around with an action packed, and very challenging, rehearsal with the Western Colorado Jazz Orchestra. If you don't have a Jazz orchestra to play in, then any responsible physician will direct you to visit your radio dial.

Well, I'm not an ancient Egyptian, but even I know the proper remedy for a crappy day. Here's the long lost formula:

  • One tablespoon of George Strait (ancient Egyptians were really into George Strait.)
  • A pinch of Martina McBride (I would like to pinch Martina)
  • If symptoms persists, add a little bit of Keith Urban

If all else fails, there's nothing that can't be cured with a little Dolly Parton and Merle Haggard.

So, when you're sick or having a cruddy day, what Country artists' music writes your healing prescription?

If you don't see your artist, write in votes are welcome!
