Name The New Grand Junction Amphitheater

I have to bring this issue back up again. Especially now, since construction is officially underway.

In my personal opinion, I don't think Las Colonias is the right name for this new outdoor venue. You only have one chance to name something, so let's make sure the city doesn't make a HUGE mistake.

This matter was brought up back in May when we first heard about this proposed venue. Now, yes, I am sure the 'Las Colonias' name has some local historical reference, but we can't name the amphitheater it. Here is what I had written back in May and I still stand behind it 100 per cent :

'The venue will be built inside of Las Colonias Park along the Riverside Parkway. For the time being, it is being referred to as the Las Colonias Amphitheater. But, I think we can do better than that. The name has to be simple, but memorable. Respectful, yet powerful. It should also bare some reflection on this beautiful area.  And finally, it has to be easy for people to pronounce and remember. Red Rocks is a great example of that. The name is perfect.'

It can't be referred to as 'the place no one knows how to pronounce!'

Is it LOS or LAS? COLON-I-AS? COLLIN-I-AS?

Please, to the city of Grand Junction, listen to your people. we need to make this the BEST named amphitheater out there.
