Guessing the Weather in Colorado is Like Playing the Lottery

No disrespect to the weatherman, but I quit worrying about the weather in Colorado a long time ago. I compare it to my stock portfolio. It is what it is. Do you remember that old Steve Martin Joke from his "Wild and Crazy Guy" album from the early 1980s? He said he was going to write a book, "How I Turned a Million in Real Estate Into $25 in Cash." That's me.

Plenty of Temperatures to Go Around

Check out the difference between Akron and Alamosa. According to the National Weather Service, Alamosa's low temperature of 18 on Thursday was eight degrees warmer than Akron's high temperature of 10. This isn't totally surprising considering they are 311 miles and five hours driving time apart.

Looking at the elevation of both locations, you'll notice a significant difference:

That's simply the way it is around here. Last night around 10:30 I was outside hooking up my equipment trailer to my grocery-getter. It was surprisingly warm. Wearing a pullover and no gloves, it really wasn't that cold out in Grand Junction. Meanwhile, Denver Internation Airport's temperature last night was -2.
