So, one of my co-workers was talking about Mike the Headless Chicken which lived for 18 months without a head. I was fascinated by this story and grossed out at the same time.

I thought how and why anyone would want a headless chicken in the first place. My co-worker said, "oh it's a really interesting story you should do some research on it". Thus, I did and found that this headless chicken story has been around for 73 years.

It reminded me of my grandma who also butchered chicken's I was I think three or four years old and really wasn't suppose to be there at my grandmother's when they were killing chickens, but I was persistent and insisted I be able to watch while my grandmother chopped the heads off chickens.

I was a little scared after that.

Therefore, Mike, the Headless Chicken is very famous I mean it is not often a chicken survives after its head is cut off and for 18 months. I guess they did not get all brain and that is why it was able to survive.

In about a week and a half "The Mike The Headless Chicken Festival" now in its 20th year will kick off June 1 and 2 in Fruita, Co. There is a 5k run, disc golf tournament, wing, and peep eating contests, live music, delicious food, and artisan booths. For a complete schedule click here.
