He was sitting on the floor asking me to lift him up, so I did!

What I didn't realize is that he had wedged his little leg under the couch and when I pulled, it stayed and something popped!

Today I asked our local expert Jillian, a nurse with the Mesa County Health Department, "How do you know when to take your child to the doctor for an injury?"

Take a listen:

Tips:

  1. Always check with your doctor-call the office and they can triage you and let you know if your child needs to be seen
  2. Cold packs-every freezer should have one. Or two!
  3. Popsicles-if your child quits crying when you give them one, they may not be hurt that bad they may just need some love and attention.
  4. If you seen swelling, bruising, blood, redness you need to have them seen.
  5. Mommy instinct-use it!

Suggestion:

  • Pack them in ice or splint the hurt area to stabilize it prior to taking them to doctors
