As a matter of fact, that wasn't one of the Duck Dynasty crew playing bass with Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, and Blake Shelton, at the 2014 Grammys last Sunday. It wasn't a rogue member of ZZ Top that had gotten lost and wound up in the wrong performance, either. That was Lee Sklar, Bass god and hero to rhythm section players everywhere!

Just in case you weren't already aware, Lee Sklar is a stud. He's played from everybody from Dolly Parton to Phil Collins to Willie Nelson.  To date he has laid down tracks on over 2,000 albums.

Leland "Lee" Sklar's career began while studying music at California State University, Northridge. Sklar landed a few gigs with James Taylor, and those short term gigs turned into a lengthy career. He appeared in the video for "Sussudio," even though he wasn't the bassist who actually recorded the track. Here's Lee Sklar in the video for Phil Collin's "Sussudio," complete with Spanish subtitles.
