March is national "Music In Our Schools" month. Looking back, did it seem as if almost every student in school played in either band, orchestra or sang in the choir. In some school districts, involvement in music programs run right around 100%. Did you play an instrument in school, and if so, what instrument did you play?

It seems as if the vast majority of students leaned towards either violin, clarinet or drums. Elementary school orchestras have violins coming out of the woodwork, but hardly any cello to speak of.

Bands have a tendency to have more clarinets than they know what to do with, but can't get students to play an oboe, not even at gunpoint. Drummers seem to abound as well. One has to wonder why that is.

Chances are you probably played in band, orchestra, or choir during your academic career. What instrument did you play? Did you stick with it? Do you wish you had continued to play?
