There's lots of Christmas cheer right now in Western Colorado as Grand Junction, Fruita, and several other communities get ready to celebrate the season.

Grand Junction will enjoy the annual Parade of Lights and a "Comic Book Christmas" this weekend, while Fruita's holiday parade will take place on December 14.

If you're looking for some fun gift ideas with a local flavor, you should head to Fruita with some time to shop next weekend. Prior to the Parade of Lights, you can look around the annual Holiday Arts and Crafts Fair held at the Fruita Community Center from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (324 N Coulson Street).

There's holiday shopping, fun light displays, and lots of Christmas cheer to go around. The selection is pretty big as the local artists and crafters of the community show off what is new for the holidays.

You'll find woodworking, clothing, jewelry ornaments, toys for the kids, crochet, wall decorations, organic lotions, and even paintings and ceramics. If you have a 'hard to shop for' relative or loved one, you may find gold among the many items at the event.

After shopping the fair head over to the downtown/Circle Park area for the Parade of Lights at 5:30 p.m. followed by the Fruita Christmas tree lighting at 6:30 p.m.
