Reports say the driver of the semi had been traveling eastbound, while the pickup truck was moving westbound at the time of the crash.
There were two occupants in the pickup truck at the time of the crash; both people in the pickup were killed in the crash, according to Colorado State Patrol's Gary Cutler.
The driver of the pickup was a 25-year-old woman and the passenger was a 28-year-old woman. Cutler said that the driver may have been from Fort Collins, while the passenger was from Oregon.
The driver of the semi had been reportedly walking and talking at the scene of the crash, according to the Denver Channel. Cutler noted, however, that the driver might've sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash.
County Road 31 to 29 was closed for several hours on Wednesday morning as crews arrived on the scene to begin crash clean up and investigate the incident. As of 9:56 a.m. Wednesday, crash cleanup had been completed and the road was reopened for travel, as reported via the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT).
The investigation regarding the crash is still ongoing and this story will be updated once additional information becomes available.
