The annual battle for bell ringing supremacy in Grand Junction heats up this Saturday when the local Rotary and Kiwanis clubs hit the bells for the Salvation Army.

It's a tradition for the Rotary and the Kiwanis clubs to ring the bells for the Salvation Army one day during the holiday season and to see which group can raise the most money. That day is this Saturday, December 9.

The Rotary will be ringing the bells at all of the Salvation Army Red Kettle locations from 10am-noon and the Kiwanis will take the afternoon shift from 12pm-2pm. Which group rises to the top is all up to the Grand Junction community.

Last year, the  Kiwanis won the ring-off battle, but together the two groups raised $83,000 for the Salvation Army. This is money that stays in the community and helps the Salvation Army meet the needs of struggling families and individuals in the Grand Valley.

So if you are out shopping this Saturday, please be generous with your Red Kettle donations and help the Rotary and Kiwanis clubs help the Salvation Army.
