An organization called "The House" is currently building apartments for Grand Junction youth that are at risk of homelessness. According to KREX5, there are over 260 young Grand Junction residents that are at high risk for long-term homelessness.

The organization bought the land that is being used for the apartment complexes, which will be known as the Karis Apartments, from Grand Junction's Unity Church, which is currently located in the adjacent lot.

Once completed, the apartment complex will have a total of 34 units and will be available for local 18 to 24-year-olds that are at high risk of becoming homeless.

The units are on schedule to be completed by September of this year, at which point they will begin taking in Mesa County youths that need help getting back on their feet.

It's widely known that one of Grand Junction's biggest problems is homelessness, and it's really great to see an organization such as The House contributing to curbing the problem.

The reverend of the Unity Church agrees with this notion, and in the above interview with KREX5, made it a point to mention that he is happy that the vacant lot is being used to service the community.
