From TV stations KATU and KPTV, comes a report that an Oregon 8th grader, Alan Holmes, was suspended for wearing a pro-military t-shirt.

The shirt contains a design to remember our fallen soldiers with the words 'Standing For Those Who Stood For Us'

Alan's brother is a Marine who has served in Iraq. The 8th grader told an Oregon TV station that he was upset and heartbroken. That he wore the shirt because his brother means the world to him. And he wanted to help give back to the people who fought and died for this country.

The schools dress code does prohibit clothing that promotes drugs, alcohol, tobacco or violence. Officials at Dexter McCartry Middle School states that the student was given a choice of removing the shirt or face suspension. Administrators are not answering questions, telling reporters that the confidentiality rules prevent them from discussing student issues.

So, who's right here?

Would you let your child wear this type of shirt? Is it appropriate?
