Colorado Marine Shot While on Duty in California
This is heartbreaking to hear.
Lance Cpl. Riley Schultz a young Marine from Longmont, Colorado was found dead from a gunshot to the head on March 15, 2019, while he was on guard duty at Southern California Camp Pendleton.
According to the Orange County Register, the Navy is currently investigating what happened.
There seems to be some confusion to what exactly occurred in this extremely unfortunate situation. Officials from the 1st Marine Corp will not discuss any details to Lance Cpl. Riley Schultz's death, nor the investigation.
The Marine Corp honored the 19-year-old's mother Misty Schultz-McCoy with a Gold Star and a citation while in service to his country.
I feel for his mother. Hearing her pain and distress makes me cry.
A memorial service will be held on April 3 at Camp Pendleton. The body of Lance Cpl. Riley Schultz will be flown back to Colorado for a home service scheduled for April 6, 2019.
